Kalkeriet Contemporary is pleased to present B.olla by artist and designer Bruno Rainaldi for Imperfettolab. A mirrored disc reflects its surroundings, encircled by another perfect ring. Emerging from the wall that frames it, this striking mirror plays with perception—captivating, deceiving, and ultimately enchanting the viewer in a magnetic illusion of form and depth. Bruno Rainaldi, born in Milan in 1952, began his hands-on journey in design communication at a young age. He managed the first High-Tech emporium in Milan and later worked with Maddalena De Padova and Enrico Baleri, developing strategies for top design brands. Calling himself a “street designer,” his style was “chaotically rigorous.” In the 1980s, he founded Studio Rari and collaborated with major Italian design companies. He co-founded ENTRATALIBERA in 2002 and later launched Opinion Ciatti with Lapo Ciatti. His iconic Ptolomeo bookshelf won the Compasso d’Oro in 2004. Rainaldi passed away in February 2011. Imperfettolab was founded in 1992, by Turroni and his wife Emanuela Ravelli. Each exclusive piece is made from a common mould, which is then sanded, painted, and hand-polished. The working process differs for each type of object, thus becoming unique in its genre. Their pieces is mainly manufactured in fiberglass, a highly versatile lightweight material that is resistant to any weather conditions, suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. Available in a wide range of formulations, fiberglass couples the formability of plastic with the strength of glass. Pound–for–pound, fiberglass is even stronger than steel or aluminum. Imperfetto Lab combines exceptional attention to detail with first-class craftsmanship, making each design a work-of-art. Their own gallery promotes a wide range of art research projects, and organizes exhibitions and performances. Since 2001, it has been a place where artists can experiment with and validate their work.
