Mickalene Thomas is a renowned multidisciplinary artist whose work explores beauty, identity, and representation through layered compositions inspired by art history, popular culture, and 1970s interiors.
Untitled #14 (2015 / 2025), launched as part of Henzel Studio Collaborations 1st Decade during Frieze Los Angeles at PDC Design Gallery, translates Thomas' bold visual language into the medium of the hand-knotted rug, bridging contemporary art and collectible design.
Thomas' work is held in leading museum collections, including The Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, MoMA PS1, the Brooklyn Museum, and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
