Kalkeriet is pleased to present Kolho dining chair by Matthew Day Jackson, designed in 2023. Kolho is a series of tables and chairs characterized by right angles and serpentine forms. Inspired by the Apollo landing and the small Finnish town of Kolho, the design features serpentine elements symbolizing temptation and chaos, which juxtapose and support the flat plane of reason. Matthew Day Jackson is a multifaceted artist based in Brooklyn, New York, specializing in painting, sculpture, drawing, and photography. His diverse body of work spans collage, video, performance, and installation, exploring a broad spectrum of themes that encompass the historical, scientific, futuristic, and fantastical. Collaborating with designers from around the globe, Made by Choice meticulously selects the finest materials for each project. Despite this international approach, the brand upholds a distinct “Made in Finland” ethos, honoring Finnish craftsmanship and traditional woodworking. All products are manufactured in Finland, blending advanced technology with the expertise of skilled craftspeople.
