The Atelier Editions at Le Cavallerizze

Kalkeriet curated the presentation of The Atelier Editions by Atelier Bowy C.D. and Henzel Studio at Le Cavallerizze during Milan Design Week. Hand-knotted works by nine architects and designers were installed on walls and across the floor of the former stables, making the architecture part of the encounter with each textile.

The Broad, Los Angeles

Mickalene Thomas — The Broad

Mickalene Thomas’s Untitled #12 was loaned to The Broad through Henzel Studio, supported by Kalkeriet Contemporary. Mickalene Thomas — MOCA Los Angeles

Mickalene Thomas’s Candy Crush (2013) was loaned to The Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles through Henzel Studio, supported by Kalkeriet Contemporary. Developed from a photo-drawing collage, the work brings portraiture, pattern and art-historical references into an irregular, free-form composition. Hand-knotted wool and silk, varied pile heights and carved details give the image a tactile, spatial presence.
