YVES KLEIN, Fire Color FC 17, 1962
Exhibition poster
59.4 x 71.4 cm (23.3 × 28 in)
Unframed
Kalkeriet is pleased to present, in collaboration with the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, a poster, Fire Colour-FC 17 by the French artist, Yves Klein (1928-1962).
Yves Klein is a major figure in modern art and represented in Louisiana’s collection. Despite his early death at 34, he became a central voice in Nouveau Réalisme, a pioneer of performance art, and an influence on later movements such as minimal art and pop art.
The work reproduced on the poster dates from Klein’s final year. A few years earlier, he created Monopink, Monogold, Monoblue (1960), one of his key works, now in the museum’s collection—three near-monochrome paintings often shown together, though conceived as independent pieces.
Klein is best known for International Klein Blue, developed to preserve the pigment’s depth and intensity, balancing an immaterial, powdery quality with clarity and force.
