Kalkeriet Contemporary is pleased to present Beetle by artist and designer Verter Turroni. His artistic workshop, Imperfettolab, is based in Gambettola, Emilia-Romagna, Italy. Founded in 1992 by Turroni and his wife, Emanuela Ravelli, the studio is known for its meticulous craftsmanship and distinctive approach to design. Each exclusive piece begins with a shared mould before being sanded, painted, and hand-polished. The finishing process varies for each object, ensuring that every creation is unique. Imperfettolab primarily works with fiberglass—a highly versatile, lightweight material that is exceptionally durable and resistant to all weather conditions, making it suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. Available in various formulations, fiberglass combines the formability of plastic with the strength of glass and, pound-for-pound, surpasses both steel and aluminum in strength. With a commitment to exceptional detail and first-class craftsmanship, Imperfettolab transforms each design into a functional work of art. The studio also runs its own gallery, which promotes a diverse range of artistic research projects, exhibitions, and performances. Since 2001, it has served as a space where artists can experiment and bring their creative visions to life.
