Richard Prince has, since the late 1970s, reappropriated imagery from mass media, advertising, and entertainment, transforming familiar images into original works that challenge ideas of authorship and ownership. Through cropping, editing, and repetition, he developed a distinct visual language that turns the ordinary into something uncanny and iconic. Exploring themes tied to American identity and popular culture — from cowboys and bikers to celebrities and pulp imagery — Prince exposes the fictions, contradictions, and darker undercurrents embedded within contemporary America.

The work is part of Henzel Studio’s ongoing collaboration program, curated by Joakim Andreasson, which engages contemporary artists in translating their visual language into textile form.
