Kalkeriet Contemporary is pleased to present Jazz, a candle holder designed by Max Bruel in 1961. Tranquil and compelling, Max Bruel was a Danish architect, ceramicist, and internationally recognized jazz musician, known for his rare versatility and creative depth. While studying at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, he won his first architecture competition and simultaneously launched a successful jazz career in the 1950s. His architectural highlights include the futuristic Herlev Hospital and the poetic chapel in Glostrup. Alongside architecture and music, Brüel also worked as a ceramicist and designer, leaving behind a multidisciplinary legacy rooted in artistic exploration. Rooted in the proud Danish design tradition, but always maintaining an international outlook, Karakter presents a striking portfolio of furniture, lighting and objects from designers who have already written the history of design to those who are aspiring to write the future.
