DAVID HOCKNEY, Park Hotel Munich, 1972
Exhibition poster
42 × 59.4 cm (16.5 × 23.4 in)
Unframed
Kalkeriet is pleased to present, in collaboration with the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, a poster featuring 'Park Hotel Munich' (1972) by British artist David Hockney (b. 1937), one of the most influential figures in 20th-century British art and a central voice in the 1960s London pop art scene.
Hockney has exhibited multiple times at Louisiana, where he is a familiar and beloved name among visitors. His work is admired for its ability to capture the poetry of everyday life—the ordinary moments that form the rhythm of the world around us. He often presents these scenes in a way that invites the viewer to pause, reflect, and participate in the narrative. In 2007, Louisiana acquired Hockney’s monumental painting A Closer Grand Canyon (1998), composed of 60 individual canvases forming a single, panoramic view. The piece has since become a highlight of the museum’s collection and a landmark in Hockney’s oeuvre. Now based in Normandy, Hockney continues to push boundaries in technique and media, rendering the world around him with a masterful line and an ever-evolving sense of color and light.
