Kalkeriet is pleased to present, in collaboration with the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, a poster featuring 'Femme de Venise III – Woman of Venice' (1956) by Swiss artist Alberto Giacometti (1901–1966), part of Louisiana’s long-standing engagement with the artist and his work. Giacometti holds a central place in the museum’s collection, and Femme de Venise III is one of several female figures in his renowned Femmes de Venise series. These sculptures have become iconic within the museum context, forming a dialogue with Louisiana’s unique architecture and landscape.
As one of the most influential artists of the 20th century, Giacometti is known for his deeply human portrayals of isolation, presence, and perception. At Louisiana, his figures seem to observe the visitor as much as they are observed—a silent presence in the space.
Whether in busts or standing figures, Giacometti’s focus remains constant: the face. The body is there, elongated and etched, but secondary. It is the head—the gaze—that captures his existential vision and leaves a lasting impression.
