Capsules is a furniture series designed by Alfredo Lopez, developed through variations of the capsule form—a cylinder articulated by hemispherical ends. By working with positive and negative space, the series explores rounded, organic volumes and their structural potential. Conceived as an open system, Capsules can be produced in a range of materials. The initial iterations are realised in solid wood, lacquered MDF, and alabaster, while other materials may be developed upon request.

Alfredo Lopez is a Barcelona-based designer working across furniture and functional objects, primarily in wood. His practice is rooted in making, with each piece developed and produced by hand in his studio and workshop, OWL, in Barcelona. The space operates as both a site of production and experimentation, where design decisions emerge through material engagement, construction, and process. López’s work reflects a close attention to proportion, structure, and the inherent qualities of the materials he employs, resulting in objects defined by clarity, restraint, and an economy of means.
