Developed for Atelier Bowy C.D., part of Henzel Studio, this work by Alexander Díaz Andersson marks the first study in an ongoing series titled Ethereal Landscapes. Presented during Milan Design Week at Museo Nazionale Scienza e Tecnologia Leonardo da Vinci, within the historic spaces of Le Cavallerizze, the piece introduces a body of work grounded in material investigation and process.
Conceived as a study rather than a resolved object, the work examines the relationship between weaving techniques, texture, and form. Distinct methods are reduced and reconfigured into a contemporary language, moving between organic expression and defined geometries.
A modular structure underpins the composition. Individual elements can be arranged in multiple configurations, each producing a distinct visual and spatial condition. No single arrangement is fixed; the work remains open, with each iteration forming its own landscape.
This initial study establishes the direction for a broader series that continues to explore the tension between softness and structure, irregularity and order. Drawing on topographies, mountainous terrains, and river formations, Ethereal Landscapes translates depth and movement into woven form.
Swedish-born Andersson is based in Mexico City and Los Angeles.
