Kalkeriet Contemporary is pleased to introduce the Bugia table lamp, a masterful design by Giuseppe Cormio for the esteemed Italian brand Codiceicona. The Bugia lamp, inspired by the etymology of the Algerian city Bougie—famed for its high-quality wax—evokes the gentle flicker of a candle flame. This evocative, nomadic light source is compact in size, making it easily portable and versatile in any space.
The Bugia lamp features a distinctive design where the metal cap appears to hover, as if suspended in mid-air. This cap is hinged to the base, forming an adjustable mechanism that allows for the gradual inclination of the lamp, directing the light precisely where it is needed. This thoughtful design ensures that the Bugia lamp is not only a source of illumination but also a functional and adaptable piece that enhances any environment.
Giuseppe Cormio graduated from the Milan Polytechnic in 1969 with a degree in Architecture. During his studies, he gained valuable experience working in the office of urban planner Ambrogio Brusa. After graduation, Cormio embarked on a diverse professional career, focusing on residential architecture, including both new constructions and renovations. He also designed interior furnishings for both domestic and office spaces and was entrusted with creating installations for major exhibitions at the Fiera di Milano, including the Plast shows in 1994 and 1997.
Codiceicona is a Verona-based company devoted to recovering and reintroducing forgotten masterpieces by the Italian design masters of the 20th century. Through its meticulous curation, Codiceicona offers a new perspective on living with design—one that honors the enduring legacy of these iconic objects while embracing the simplicity and necessity of contemporary life. This approach ensures that the brilliance of these great masters continues to inspire and elevate modern interiors.
Kalkeriet Contemporary invites you to explore the Bugia table lamp—a piece that combines historical inspiration with modern functionality, bringing a timeless sense of warmth and style to any setting.
