Kalkeriet Contemporary is pleased to present Jwan Yosef. The Intimacies capsule translates Jwan Yosef’s paintings into dye-injected chromogenic prints on velour, relocating painterly gesture to a tactile textile surface. Stretch, scrape, and touch — actions central to Yosef’s studio practice — define the work’s material logic.
Yosef’s work explores dualism and in-between states: authentic and synthetic, exposure and concealment, intimacy and distance. By shifting fine-art language into textile form, the series questions how medium shapes meaning and how the body meets the image. Each rug functions as a physically encountered painting, holding the viewer within the tension of presence, desire, and material.
Produced within the Henzel Studio Collaborations program and as part of The Dual Terrains collection. Launched at Culture Edit Gallery, Los Angeles.
