Kalkeriet Contemporary is honored to present Mercurio by artist and designer Verter Turroni. Created within the confines of his studio, Imperfetto Lab, located in Gambettola, Emilia Romagna, Italy, Mercurio exemplifies the fusion of art and craftsmanship that has defined Turroni’s work since the founding of the studio in 1992 alongside his wife, Emanuela Ravelli. Each piece produced at Imperfetto Lab begins with a common mold, which is then meticulously sanded, painted, and hand-polished, ensuring that no two works are identical. The manufacturing process varies with each design, allowing for a distinctive character in every object. Primarily crafted from fiberglass—a versatile, lightweight material known for its durability under any weather condition—Turroni’s works are suited for both indoor and outdoor spaces. The material itself strikes a balance between the malleability of plastic and the strength of glass, offering an unparalleled strength-to-weight ratio that surpasses even steel or aluminum. Imperfetto Lab’s commitment to exceptional craftsmanship and meticulous attention to detail transforms each design into a unique work of art. The studio also serves as a gallery space, fostering artistic exploration and experimentation since its inception in 2001. This space allows artists to present and validate their works, supporting a diverse range of creative endeavors.
