Kalkeriet presents a capsule collection by French artist Claude Guillaumin (b. 1941), whose decades-spanning photography explores intimacy, urban life, and conceptual themes. Though born in France, Guillaumin spent most of his life in New York City, where its raw energy shaped his visual language. From candid street scenes to architecturally framed moments, his work captures the city's grit and grandeur with instinctive precision. Initially recognized for editorial work in the 1970s and '80s, Guillaumin shifted in the 2000s to portraying everyday women, emphasizing authenticity over ideals. The collection also includes a conceptual series inspired by Andy Warhol, focusing on New York’s discarded objects as reflections on consumerism and daily aesthetics. All photographs are printed on Hahnemühle fine art paper. The presentation includes two chromogenic-printed rugs — developed in collaboration with Atelier Bowy C.D. — that blur boundaries between fine art and functional design. Together, the works offer a layered view of Guillaumin’s evolving practice: direct, thoughtful, and enduring.
