Kalkeriet Contemporary is pleased to present Lightbody, a lamp designed by Jörg Hugo for Leucos. The transparent glass diffuser is entirely handcrafted using the traditional “free-blown” technique, where a glass Maestro shapes the piece by hand without a mold. This results in subtle variations, making each lamp a unique and one-of-a-kind creation. To emphasize its authenticity, every piece is engraved with a serial number directly on the glass. Jörg Hugo studied architecture at RWTH Aachen and the University of Applied Arts Vienna (Masterclass Zaha Hadid), graduating with distinction in 2004. Before founding Studio Jörg Hugo in Berlin in 2018, he held key roles including Senior Associate at CoopHimmelb(l)au, Design Architect at Studio Olafur Eliasson, and Head of Rapid Prototyping at Weissensee Kunsthochschule Berlin. He also taught at the University of Applied Arts Vienna until 2016. His work explores the interplay between materiality, form, and space through both digital and analogue processes. The studio has received international recognition, including the German Design Award, Red Dot Award, Iconic Awards, and the Asian Design Prize.
