In Night Editions, Calle Henzel presents a collection of rugs in a refined, nearly monochromatic palette of black, white, and grey, drawing on inspiration from past collections. Each piece embodies a quiet elegance and invites viewers to appreciate subtle variations in texture and hue, transforming functional rugs into sophisticated art objects. The collection’s minimalist approach resonates with the philosophies of artists like Donald Judd and Agnes Martin, who used limited palettes to evoke complex responses. Like Robert Rauschenberg and Pierre Soulages, Henzel uses black to explore depth and materiality, encouraging a contemplative experience of the rugs’ textures and forms. Through Night Editions, Henzel demonstrates how simplicity in design can elevate interior spaces, making each rug an artistic focal point that bridges functionality with profound aesthetic appeal.
Calle Henzel has collaborated with some of the most prominent names and foundations in contemporary art including; Richard Prince, Nan Goldin, Mickalene Thomas, Lawrence Weiner, Douglas Gordon, Anselm Reyle, Juergen Teller, Tom of Finland Foundation and The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, among others. His collaborations and own designs has been exhibited at prominent venues such as MOCA, Katonah Museum of Art, Boca Raton Museum of Art, Rossana Orlandi Gallery and The Goss-Michael Foundation.
